Flock Safety, a police surveillance startup, has acquired Aerodome, a 17-month-old drone startup, in a deal worth over $300 million. The acquisition accelerates Flock Safety's expansion into police drones and puts the company in direct competition with Skydio, another Andreessen Horowitz portfolio company. The technology developed by Aerodome allows for autonomous drones to be used as first responders, which can quickly survey a scene and inform law enforcement if it is safe to enter.
