How hard is it for recommendation algos to not go overboard instantly? You buy one toilet seat on Amazon and suddenly Bezo's minions are convinced you're a toilet seat afficionado. You click on one swimsuit picture on Pinterest and your feed instantly turns into softcore porn. You put your phone on the table while a guy with blue eyes and blonde hair is doing a TikTok dance and your phone literally turns into Hitler. There is no moderation, not even in moderation.
the other ones I understand, but a toilet seat is typically a once every x years purchase, unless you’ve got something seriously wrong going on.
It is crazy specific sometimes too. I had a week where every other thing in Facebook was ai bikini pics of Emma Watson because she was the other half of the screen while I watched a comedian's video one day. For stupid bonus points, during that week I don't think I saw a single video from the same comedian.
