On another issue related to defending a status quo:

I was discussing with an American on X, who doesn't want to let the people from Puerto Rico decide to reunite with Spain (considering they were forced to leave the union after the Spanish American War), but also didn't feel the urgency of incorporating them as another state to the US, thus keeping them as second-class citizens.

And many Americans don't want Puerto Rico to become another state due to racist, xenophobic shit. Americans are weird. Spain was never like this.

There was mestizaje in Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines. They were provinces like those from the peninsula. Consider the amount of mestizos in Spanish America.

And you never heard about racist shit in Spanish America. It all comes from the US.

Ugh. I hate hypocrites.
