Should I also pursue a Master's degree in Computer Science? Is it worth it? Distance learning? 🤔
in Germany, yes. they suck yo dick if you have one of these
Really? You’re a badass dev already!
I also love the idea of academics; maybe doing PhDs after that, I want to do something very special in some specific field before I die 😂
I would say its a waste of time. I've interviewed plenty over the years and never seen any candidate with a masters. If you want to do something, I would advise you to specialise in something over doing something as generic as computer science.
I am considering distance education, where they will provide assignments online. However, I believe the main examinations will be conducted offline, twice a year, for a duration of two years. 🤔 But what you just said that is actually the main thing I am doing right now, specialising in cloud computing and machine learning, with certifications. I will keep going you. But I also don't want to burnout myself 😅🤣
It is worth it if you’re willing to challenge yourself. It’s mentally draining. I have a masters and it made me sick at the time. (Burnout) But it all depends on the circumstances…when I was writing my dissertation,we were in lockdown. Everything was depressing. So now life is different because is normal again. I think it’s worth it. You’ll feel good when you finish it. 🫶🏻
Yeah, master's degrees require a lot of energy. I'm thinking about specializing in data structures and algorithms since it fits my coding journey and I enjoy it 😂. Thanks for sharing your experience; it helps me see the perspective.
You’re welcome ☺️
Masters degrees can change your life or waste your time, talk to graduates from—and current students at—the programs you are considering, it is very illuminating. Make sure the professors are people you respect and want to collaborate with, because that is essentially what you’ll be doing.
