 While it's very sad that the #sycamore on #Hadrian's wall was cut down, the good news is that the root system is still intact and will send up regrowth shoots. Selectively prune the '#coppice' to one stem and it will come back rapidly.

I have questions about it springing back. It's an older tree, and was cut at just the wrong time.

Even if it does, it won't be the same.

 It's nice to see an upside here. It's sad to lose a magnificent tree like this, but it's always to see nature's resilience.

(I also feel sad for the teenager who did this. I'm imagining a kid who's been carrying some real pain and will now be experiencing some serious accountability.)
