 Get to your 40s and most of the mothers kids have grown up and left and the women now have more free time and a sense of adventure. It's kinda cool.

 There are still a few good, single women, but I understand that they are few and far between like (to use your analogy above) a narrow, overgrown hiking trail they are hard to find.
