@d I once had to read a book in middle school where one scene had some Whites insulting some Blacks. I forgot the title, but it had this exact quote from one page:
"NIGGER! NIGGER! MUD-EATER!"

I didn't understand why at first, but one of the few Black kids in our classroom had to read that aloud.
