 This is the way everyone sees it when they are criticized. 

What matters more is if the intent of the criticism is ultimately to be constructive, and if the group's primary goal is to do the right thing. I think problem-oriented and solution-oriented criticism are both valid forms, and the former is about asking for acknowledgement or consensus, rather than arriving with the tablets from the hill. Maybe drop the pretentious white-collar y-combinator gate for this one and see what happens? 
 This is the correct response, and avoids participation-trophy culture results when "building". Accept criticism as a way for you to think outside your comfort zone. 
 Agree. Some people let their own pride blind them from seeing the opportunity that comes from others directing negative emotions at their work. It's not about whether the emotion is positive, it's about the intensity in either direction. Frustration is as important as love. Ignoring that, or to ignore the people giving it is a mistake. Responding by silo-ing is the same energy that pushed Twitter into being under the control of the feds.
