Its not just, or even mainly the individuals fault. In 1950s civil defence manuals, a traumatised newcomer to your bunker was supposed to be welcomed, listened to, and then promptly given something useful to go on with. Silent Generation culture. Today, a paper cut or micro aggression is a signal to be rushed out, be praised for newfound specialness, and taken away for days from being collectively useful and valued. So that the victim can ruminate, catastrophise and despair. "Psychological healing", we call it. You might need a paid friend to praise you and establish a codependent parasocial relationship. Keeps a lot of social workers and psychotherapists busy. Keeps SSRI tablets flying off the shelves. The costs, though, are borne by others...
We can’t maintain a society like this, it’s bleedingly obvious. Everything is done to perpetuate big daddy government. Everyone is out to bilk the taxpayer. People seem to think we have a magic money tree and we can’t just “tax the rich” some more as if they’re not already carrying everyone on their backs already. The top 10% of income earners pay more than half the income tax in Australia, equivalent to 20% of all revenues - greater than all company tax which is 19% of the revenue base. One of these individuals pays the equivalent of 30 median wage earners and gets absolutely fuckall in services. And yet they can’t even get on the property ladder now - how sick is that?! This redistribution nonsense has to end. People have to contribute and stop being handed gibs or the productive people are just gonna leave and let the remaining leftists carry the bag themselves.
