For me, the biggest takeaway was the fact that there are so many conflicts (and people living under authoritarian regimes) that is in a way forgotten because mainstream media is not reporting on it anymore. However, these ongoing conflicts are driving millions of people to flight their home countries.
Also, a lot of these conflicts are rooted in devaluing people based on their beliefs, but also the people who are in power becomes obsessed with holding that power so they will do anything to keep it/protect it. 

 Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I am lucky to live in North America. I can't image growing up in fear from so many different angles. 

 Same here. Growing up in Europe I have never encountered any situations where fear in that way is reality. But we do see a political shift even here in Europe
