The virtue that ties all the others together. Other than courage, self-control (or restraint) is the quintessential warrior virtue. It is the mark of maturity. The Japanese word jisei most closely translates to “self-control” or restrain, and is made up of two kanji: 自制. 自 (ji), means self. 制 (sei), conveys the idea of rules or governance. 自制 (Jisei) combines the self with the idea of control, authority and regulation. Together these kanjis emphasize the ability to govern one’s own actions and impulses. #bushido #samurai #art https://image.nostr.build/1566b0d906c8120f03fe5bde9e80cef1cedb49105ee4fbeee60fed37b94112ae.png
