Yes. And an effective way to do that is to make people frightened and confused over preferably invisible and non obvious catastrophies(like the climatescam) while gaslight them about obvious and real catastrophies(like uncontrolled immigration), which will then make people accept high taxes to counter the invisible fake catastophes, which will make people less in control of their lives while making them dependent on the state, which is the source of the problem in the first place. 🤷
