Hi Brock, I'm also a new user of NOSTR and recently deleted my LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook as well. Well, actually I still have an Instagram for my business but that plays an important role in my work (unfortunately).

I think most of my distaste for social media comes from the fact that it is controlled and manipulate by those entities that run their platforms. 

I'm optimistic that a protocol like NOSTR can help people communicate more like they did back in the "good old days" of blogging and message forums.

So far I like it. While the community is small right now, hopefully most of us are united around some common core values and it will only grow in the direction we want from here. If it never reaches mass appeal, I don't see that as a bad thing.
