Probably because even today they have another country’s monarch on their money.
Sure but the history I learned is how all the colonies decided to united to form the United States but never a mention that almost half the colonies didn’t choose to join.
I knew that they had been invited, and one of them actually sent delegates that didn't make it.
@chadlupkes interesting. What colony sent delegates but didn’t join?
I reviewed the history further, and I was wrong. What I had remembered is that Quebec raised two regiments that participated in the Continental Army, but when Colonists launched an invasion of Quebec in September 1775, any potential success in convincing the people of the former French colonies to join in the efforts against England were basically a waste of effort.
I wasn't taught that everyone wanted to fight. In fact, I was taught that it was a major point of contention. The same with the Civil War. These two issues taught me at a young age that not everyone is willing to fight for principles.
