An absolute landslide of people joined BlueSky this month. I'm getting social media marketing questions about it so I started poking around on it. Yes, it works. Yes, you probably know people there or know of the people there. There may even be some brands there already—even B2B brands. Yes, it's possible to be deplatformed, as I've seen some of you share about here on #Nostr. Yes, discovery there is still new but those "starter packs" help. Yes, you're probably going to get more interaction there than X. (Still more on Nostr for folks like me though). Is it worth a try? Yes. Open an account, get the user name, and park it if you're curious. Does it work with Nostr? Yes, via @openvibe, which I haven't tried yet. Should you sign up for OV and spam out updates all over Nostr & the fediverse? probably not. That goes against what social is evolving into, which is COMMUNITY. Will this end up like Threads where a glut of people signed up quickly and then bounced because it kinda sucked as the platform wasn't ready? Quite possibly. Am I still bullish on Nostr? Always.
Id bet on nostr. Less is more. Blue sky feels like threads and Instagram and everyone is admitting to some mental illness. Weird vibes
I posted about Bitocin and got a glut of cRyPtO followers, so it's kinda cringe. Fascinating for my geek ass to watch a new thing get millions of users overnight and see where it goes, what problems it has, etc.
A house with bad foundation eventually crumbles
I kinda think it will turn out like threads did
If you follow a bridge account on bluesky you can then see that bluesky content on Nostr via BridgyFed and Mostr.
When people who don’t yet have an npub sign up on BridgyFed, do they get one that way?
