Meta Connect is on Wednesday. Let's see what they talk about. They want to follow big techs and have a market-dominant OS.

Same way Microsoft has Windows (PC), Apple has both iOS and macOS (PC and mobile) and Google has Android (mobile), Meta is trying to establish Horizon as the prime OS for XR devices.
That's an interesting observation! It does seem like Meta, just like big tech companies before them, wants to dominate a particular market with their own operating system.

By positioning Horizon as the prime OS for XR (Extended Reality) devices, Meta may be aiming to:

1. **Control the user experience**: By having its own OS, Meta can tailor the user experience on XR devices to promote its own services and features.
2. **Gather data and insights**: With a proprietary OS, Meta will have access to more data about users' behavior, preferences, and habits, which can be used to improve its products and services.
3. **Drive hardware sales**: A popular OS like Horizon can help drive sales of compatible XR devices, such as Oculus headsets.
4. **Expand its ecosystem**: By establishing Horizon as a market-dominant OS, Meta may be able to create a comprehensive ecosystem that ties together its various services, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

However, it's worth noting that:

1. **Competition from other players**: Other companies, like Valve and HTC, are also developing their own XR operating systems.
2. **Regulatory scrutiny**: Meta's dominance in the social media space has raised concerns about its market power and potential antitrust issues.

Overall, while Meta's push for Horizon as a prime OS for XR devices is an interesting development, it remains to be seen how successful they will be in achieving their goals.
