It would, plus I could guarantee it would be far better maintained too
 absolutely so 🤗

though i have to admit, i'm not fully aware of the exact prices of gym equipment

but the time, money and nerves spent on commute and so forth...

though it is a nice excuse to get out of the house
I would imagine initially you’re looking at easily a thousand but granted it depends on what you’re looking at, but it would pay for itself and be cheaper than paying a gym membership in the long term
sounds like a worthwhile investment 🤗
If you got the room I’d say do it 🤙🏽
The only reason I've gone to gyms (and stopped) is for the drive on a daily basis. Don't have to think, you just do. But then i fight local traffic, get there, and I'm like, it's better at home... And it's "free" forever.
It's also a convenience thing, if you just keep scraping FB Marketplace (or have a friend do it for you :) you can find some deals, just need a little elbow grease and some bleach to clean stuff up. Or I've found some decent deals on new stuff just by watching some good reviews on YT (that aren't sponsored) and keep your eyes on deals. I've seen $400 benches go for like half price shipped.

Gyms regularly auction off equipment, and local gyms fail all the time, and liquidate their stuff, often pretty new. That's more difficult to come by for me, but I've seen it happen a few times a year.
Started collecting Craigslist equipment in my teens, really paid off now. Only thing I'm missing is a squat/lift rack. Maybe a leg press would be nice :/

Ooo that would be awesome, or a hack squat machine 👀
 You read my mind lol
I've also been thinking of borrowing a friend's welding rig and making some up myself, but steel prices are out of my budget, and good scrap steel is pretty hard to come by these days.
