@838d1c5d Contractors and freelancers are fine. As long as they're directly contracted on a per-project basis and remunerated to compensate for downtime.. Which is not the model of gaming contractors at all.
@c2d1ddb3 yeah. The model for contractors in games are often low pay and even zero contract hours in some places too. And in the scenario at Naughty Dog, laid off with no severance or protections. I've seen it used as a safeguard for the company not to take on the employment risk. And they get away with it far too often. I'm not 100% against contractors (I am one at the moment by choice). But like you say there needs to be remuneration and compensation, and a high day rate to compensate.
