Hachette, HarperCollins, Wiley, and Penguin Random House are burning the Library of Alexandria for profit. These are the companies responsible for trying to litigate the Internet Archive out of existence, removing our access to public works, forcing us to pay them to gain access. I am thinking through personal strategies to make sure that none of my money ever goes to them.

This is only a partial list as far as I'm aware. This really is one of the worst things I've heard about in a long time. nostr:nevent1qqsfj4wh9hnhmlg293gvgvacmn3tzfh9clft368n43hetdjcsakkvwqpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsygrpqejsgct7u7fcwqs7rryflduarhdu8eal7xw0y2v0gprxlpc4aypsgqqqqqqsngw0fx
Download books from Library Genesis. https://libgen.is/
I don’t know if you have ever taken the time, effort, and discipline to write a book, but it is not easy. I want to exclude monopoly publishers, but I want authors to be paid for their effort. Simply downloading from libgen.is is not a solution, unless you care only about yourself.
Ah okay, that’s a bit tougher. Besides maybe contacting authors directly.
Yeah, I’m leaning toward something like: 1. Favor self published. 2. If ‘borrowed’ from libgen, do my sue diligence to look for authors nostr account, and zap them. 3. Email author if I can find an address, and suggest they investigate V4V, and set up a nostr npub so they can be zapped. 4. If none of these things work, they made a choice to work with, and support the Beast, so as much as I want to be fair to them, they may have limited my ability to do that for them by their choice.
