I have to respectfully disagree with you here. I say this as I am not a fan of either rapper, but art is what you make it. Creating something that doesn't resonate with everyone, or even anyone for that matter, doesn't make you not an artist. An artist is someone who uses a creative output to express their beliefs, morals, thoughts, life experiences, etc. You don't have to be respected or even talented to be an artist, you only have to be genuine to yourself and the content you create will be your art.
That I do understand. However, to clarify, they aren't artists in a typical old-school sense, since we've lost the old-fashioned way of doing things within the last few decades. Yes, they do art, but in such a way to where I wouldn't consider it art, but that's on them.
