Introducing the Decentralized Online Marketplace Protocol (DOMP)
I am presenting the Decentralized Online Marketplace Protocol (DOMP), a framework designed to facilitate secure, trustless, and transparent transactions in decentralized online marketplaces. DOMP leverages Bitcoin, the Lightning Network, and the Nostr protocol to eliminate intermediaries and enhance user trust through specific mechanisms.
DOMP incorporates a dual-collateral system, a reputation framework, and an optional arbitration process. It defines specific event types to structure interactions, facilitating secure fund management and mitigating fraud risks without relying on third-party escrow services. The escrow mechanism is established through cryptographic proofs and mutual agreements at the protocol level.
Key Features
• Trustless Transactions: Establishes an escrow mechanism using cryptographic proofs and mutual agreements directly within the protocol.
• Reputation System: Implements a minimal framework that allows users to set acceptable collateral levels based on trust.
• Anti-Spam Measures: Enables relays to set individual anti-spam policies based on network conditions.
• Secure Escrow Mechanism: Manages funds through defined event types and workflows without third-party custody.
• Optional Arbitration: Provides options for mutually agreed-upon third-party arbitration without compromising decentralization.
DOMP aims to be a maximally decentralized protocol upon which others can build platforms. It is not intended to replace platforms like Amazon and eBay but to supplement them where centralized structures fail.

Contributions to the development and implementation of DOMP are essential for creating a first implementation. Please reach out on Nostr if you have questions or wish to contribute to DOMP’s development.

@elsat i have not. I have heard of Mostro and Civkit recently though.
Encourage you to check in with the two gents I mentioned.
There are network effect benefits for a single marketplace spec.
Current marketplace implementations on nostr use at least two separate specs, which is not ideal for marketplace vendors or buyers.
