 🙈
Because the big relays think they can extract value from the network instead of valuing decentralization
Decentralization doesn't cover the cost of running a relay.
You completely misunderstand what this kind of network was designed for.
 How expensive is it?
Are relays filtering for money or control?
relayable is like the only one with tor access lol tell him to add this.

https://github.com/0xtrr/onion-service-nostr-relays
Is it because of the relays themselves? Need tor addresses?
 Many actively block for IPs
 Likely.
 Tor* IPs
 Yes ik
Relays may need some bot protection, unsure what the solution is
We must learn to be free, the network must be open. Spam will be part of it, but its up to individuals to handle what they want to see
 This needs fixed
Oooof. Going to test tor support.
I gave up using nostr via tor 6 months+ ago as relay support was terrible.
@Ava uses gossip on whonix via tor. Care to share your experiences and how / when it started improving?
It would be nice to see i2p tested as well as tor, since i2p supposedly has better performance.
Too bad. I hope this gets fixed soon.
tor sucks from a UX perspective
 Huge casualty
We need Cloudflare up in here
 LOL no
Hmm. Maybe we could use our private keys to prove identity to a relay, and then relays could use reputation to rate limit
Sounds like nonsense. We all know Snowden is an actor.
tor relay connection problem so he stop using nostr & back to twitter 🤔🤯
I tried before but I can't even find Tor relays??
for years now i haven't tried tor against a very repressive adversary but during those times tor gives you an option to choose bridge/exit relays not publicly known
Journalists like Greenwald were in good hands at Nostr, but unfortunately, they are not here. There are various reasons for that.
bummer actually, I love seeing Whitney post in here too.
Please tell him that he needs to access a client without TLS, "http" rather than "https" (and must stay "http").
The reason for Tor relays to never work is that browsers block unencrypted websocket connections, or try to upgrade them to encrypted.
This is a general problem with Tor and not specific to Nostr.

Makes sense, seems like a browser problem not a tor problem. I strongly suspect a native app would work fine.

TLS is redundant for hidden services anyway, but accessing clearnet relays seems like it ought to "just work" unless it's a problem with the cert CN when accessed over tor.
