In today's #privacy (or lack thereof) news:
"A new report from 404 Media that cites documents leaked to its reporters reveals "Active Listening" #software that, unsurprisingly, uses a form of artificial intelligence to "capture real-time intent data by listening to our conversations". The leaked documents cite a pitch deck from Cox Media Group (CMG), a TV and radio giant that is one of Facebook's alleged marketing partners."
I think we've all known this has been happening. It was way too common for me to talk to someone about something and then start seeing targeted advertising knowing I never did any sort of cursory web searching on the topic.

Need a device with a hardware switch to disconnect cameras and mics
Graphene software on Pixel phone + Signal app . Sticky tape on all cameras.
But, then it's everyone else's phone \ laptop \ TV \ car that's the problem !
Its so fucked !

I have a pixel with lineage. What’s the benefit of Graphene over Lineage?
🤷♂️ never heard of lineage
Oh! I’ve had LineageOS on a couple phones lol
Lineage is degoogled (assuming you don't have the gservices installed) graphene does something with isolating all services so that no apps have extra privileges (there is probably a lot of details I'm missing) but basically I understand it as more secure for that as well as being able to lock the bootloader after install.
I do have GApps. I should probably do a fresh install completely degoogled since my daily driver is an iPhone now
Why is this a surprise..What do you think Alexa dies ? You even give it permission to do so..same will all other apps that ask for permission to use Microphone.....The data is sold..How many read the small print that says " We reserve the right to use the data we record"
I think the issue here is even the app owners did not know it was happening since they are severing the partnerships. Or they're acting like they didn't and are now trying to distance themselves from it.
A smartphone is truly a devilish invention
