OpenAI is planning to release its next AI model, Orion, by December. Unlike previous models, Orion won't be widely available through ChatGPT initially, but will instead be granted access to select companies that work closely with OpenAI. Microsoft engineers are preparing to host Orion on Azure as early as November. The new model has been teased as potentially 100 times more powerful than GPT-4 and is seen as a step towards creating artificial general intelligence (AGI).
