 In fertile Glanshammar we've discovered something I like to call the Dirham Background Radiation. It refers to the fact that if you send 35 metal detectorists into a large South Scandinavian field and have them do about 7 person hours per 2500 sqm, you always find an Islamic silver coin of the later 1st millennium AD. Even if you find nothing else. 1/2

 @34cb1247 😂 I have wondered about this - is it because the Scandinavians were very good and trading (stealing?) but only for a particular period of time and in a specific place..? Then everyone else moved on melted down the coins and the Scandinavians just sat back with money in the bank? 
Or something else?
