Cool. Thank you! :) I am going to give it a go and ensure it works before deleting google maps. 
But now I have to think on how to solve this dilemma. A few months ago I had an emergency scare situation and given the fact that I often travel alone it was suggested that I share my location real time with a trusted friend. I felt it gave me a sense of security. I did that with Google maps. It did feel good to know someone close knows where I am as my habit of checking in is inconsistent.
