A surge in migration from Venezuela has been observed, with over 19,800 individuals crossing the Darién Gap between Colombia and Panama in September. This marks a 69% increase compared to the previous month. The uptick is attributed to a crackdown on dissent in Venezuela and fears of tougher immigration restrictions after the US presidential election.
