I think I’m pulling the tomatoes this weekend. I’m exhausted. I think I’ve processed over 800 lbs of tomatoes this year. I Don’t even know how many I given away. If it even has the slightest defect it gets tossed into the woods. #gardening https://m.primal.net/KvGQ.jpg
Impressive, David. That is a ton of work. I'd love to see your tomato beds/methods. I got wiped out early on tomatoes
I don’t do anything special. I cage/ stake. I usually leave 2 or 3 vines per plant. I space 3ft apart in zigzag fashion (two rows) in a 4 by 25 ft bed 15 or 16 plants per bed. I grow a mix of determinates and indeterminates . I like to grow a lot of Russian varieties, they do best in my climate. https://m.primal.net/KvPS.jpg
I like that spacing method. Good air flow between plants.
Smart, do y'all have a compost area?
I do, I compost everything. I wait until all of the summer crops are out then I make a big pile with the chicken bedding.
