It can. Payments are key to this. Right now a major limitation is the lack of Bitcoin adoption among the general population, since Bitcoin is the only built-in payments system on nostr. Solutions could include better fiat-to-bitcoin bridges such as Strike, as well as incorporating fiat payment services such as cashapp or Venmo more natively into the nostr UX.
You can already link your Strike, and any other wallet to Nostr. Two clicks. Too hard for the general population? I think the problem with the general population lies elsewhere?
Where Strike is available it’s good. The ability to pay directly from your fiat balance and have someone receive it as sats is a game changer. It needs to be leveraged more in onboarding users to nostr. And there needs to be more services like it. For instance, if Cashapp offered that feature it would make it much easier to introduce people to bitcoin as a payments option.
