When I understood what bitcoin truly is, why it is the way it is and what its potential is, it became clear that it is the most fundamental, wide ranging and impactful innovation of my life. Naturally I oriented myself towards that goal and am blessed to now work on this mission every day. I got into bitcoin as one way to make money. I stayed in it because I realized with Bitcoin you can stop looking for these ways and simply focus on your craft/doing what you love because it fixes inflation (and so much more)
Welcome! It is always refreshing to see new comers with little to no Bitcoin experience/interest. You will find here that besides books, there is a great Bitcoin/Nostr community. I personally do not work in IT or Bitcoin, we all have our convictions regarding this commodity. working for a company working to build decentralised collaboration systems... not bitcoin only, but they pay me in bitcoin and the chief is friendly to #nostr as he percieves it as a viable foundation to build properly decentralised social media and messaging systems it's hard to get funding to do bitcoin only stuff, so i think it's not a bad thing to build with nostr and all that goes along with it but helps build bridges that make it easier for minds and hearts to open up to the core message and not get distracted with all the hype and influencoors

I got into bitcoin because I felt these really smart people in the space knew something I didn’t and I needed to find out. I had no ego. I wasn’t smart enough to just know, I had to learn and I also found a mentor knowledgeable in economics and bitcoin security. Back in 2012 you couldn’t just go on YouTube and learn it. I’m not working at a bitcoin company since I have a career in another field but I’ve been stacking sats and mentoring noobs…paying it forward.
“Economics in One Lesson” by Hazlitt is a good introductory book for understanding the economic thinking of Satoshi and others who are building Bitcoin.

Yes. Also read The Fiat Standard, coz I found that the Bitcoin Standard is a bit too biased towards gold and I think Saifedean realised that too, hence the follow-up. I also read Web of Debt before The Bitcoin Standard and that shows how fiat has actually been useful at times in history in the short term, in particular The American Revolution, which facilitated America breaking away from England with unbacked fiat in circulation. This book predates Bitcoin and argues for a fiat system where govt issues it itself without having to pay interest to a lending bank, and not inflating the supply without backing. Of course this is nonsense to Bitcoiners now, but the book gives a good history of money and nefarious financing. Also Broken Money by Lynn Alden, Price of Tomorrow by Jeff Booth, Inventing Bitcoin, Mastering Bitcoin and The Sovereign Individual
