I’m curious about reposts vs quote posts. I get tons more interactions when i do a quote post instead of just a repost. Are folks just not seeing the reposts or is the commentary provided with the quote post the critical thing? Is this a social or technology issue?
speaking for me its social, read vs engage
I interact more if someone’s commenting on what they renote.
I agree i am interacting with the two notes together. A repost is something someone want me to see. The comment creates the room for dialogue.
Reposts/boosts give any interactions to the original note. Some clients don't show reposts & some filter some of them out. Quotes also show up as replies in some clients & as just stand-alone notes in others so that probably adds to exposure too. So... technical
I'm sorry.. I just realized I should have said "on Amethyst" at the end of that 1st sentence.
Probably because its kind 1
💯
If you repost, only your profile name appears in a line at the top on Plebstr for example. If you quote post, we can see your profile picture and name as well as the comment you make and the original post. Maybe it’s a visual issue, for someone that is following a lot of people and has a busy homepage it’s not easy to notice the profile name without a picture for a repost while scrolling down quickly to catch up with the feed or find something interesting.
Feed is often littered with same reposts of followed accounts by other followed accounts. Likes for original note and poster.
never or hardly do "repost" - when like then usually eiither quote "note" or it ts content in "newnote" - think most important is "spread GOOD(what reader viewpoint) message" than who original author was - no disrespect or so called plagiarism - any copyrighted content etc need apa style
I’m definitely more likely to engage with a quoted note than a repost. Often, this is because a “repost-worthy” note has been reposted already by one or more people that I follow, because it’s still such a small community here. So I’ve usually seen the reposted note already, and would engage with the OP if anything. I repost notes to increase their visibility while giving credit to the author. I quote post if I want to add something of my own to the content.
If you do a repost, on some clients (like gossip) replies go to the original post, and you can't even reply to the repost event itself. The nostr protocol doesn't care, but some clients just do it like that. So yes, quote posts will be interacted with more.
Your post is causing quite a stir. Added to the https://nostraco.in/hot feed
