Right. A friend sent me $25 on Venmo just this week. Most people I know use it. 

 And the fees guh 

 Fees are only for instant withdrawals. This just reminded me to withdrawal to my bank. It will be there on Monday, with zero fees. Lightning fixes this. 

 Well my venmo, when I had it, was tied not to a bank account but to a chase card. Chase attacks venmo xfers with a fee and interest AND a lifetime xfer limit  of about 2k 

 And they have auto signed up any chase card or bank customer for "Paze" their new payment competitor to venmo 

 Any speculation on how that will play out in the long term?

I'm still learning things, but my instinct is that CBDCs will be destined to fail no matter because people will eventually manipulate them to exploit others just as with the current system. 

 Their underlying value proposition IS manipulation.
