The right-most party, AfD (Alternative für Deutschland), is currently catching not just a lot of attention and voters, but are actually within absurdly close reach to being "in power" - elected as a mayor or being a substantial part in a local parliament. This trend has been going on since 2016 when the initial "refugee wave" hit - an absolute mass-immigration of which the effects last to this very day. And whilst the amount of technically illegal immigration hasn't stopped but simply reduced somewhat, the welcoming culture that was once there, is by now replaced by a stern "Should we really?"-attitude. This is the key turning point that started it all.

Over the years, AfD politicians have consistently caused drama in all sorts of matters and it is starting to culminate into something... bigger. In the east of germany, their voting power is already so insane, that they are close to reaching so many seats that a coalition without them is impossible. Last I checked, they hit a solid 20% of all votes - that's a fifth of all voters, and the east of germany is quite densely populated. So that means a lot, literally.

In recent weeks, especially as votation in the individual states (Bundeslandtagswahlen) is starting up, the political discourse is not just back to the migration topic, but also heavily fueled by Ukraine support, Russia and China politics and the EU and NATO as a whole, which is an amazing foundation for nationalistic thinking... or, in other words, perfect for the braincells at AfD.

Add on top of that that politicians of other parties have attempted to establish an "Anti-AFD" image, they are inadvertedly giving them even more room. There was an advert for Hessia's SPD that was taken down, because all it did was fire towards AfD. But if your entire ad spot is about bashing someone else - aren't you actually advertising them indirectly? Someone at SPD realized this - which is why it was taken down... But the result of that is even more talk about AfD and it's indirect influence. At this point, all they have to do is breathe to be the focus of attention.

And this is **very** bad. So I fear that in 2025, when voting for the Bundestag - and thus our chancelor! - is happening, AfD will have an absurd votation power and with that in mind will also dominate the topics to be talked about during the election phase.

Now, I am visually impaired, I rely on state support a crapton. If AfD comes in, or if due to the discourse during the election, and this support is cut, I am in deep shit. And this is just from the viewpoint of an impaired person... There are many other sectors literally in danger.

So, that is kind of the "what happened, in short". I could've gone much longer and elaborated on other stuff, but this should give you an overview of our situation.

The real TL;DR would be: AfD exists, is big, and we're about to be royally fucked in the ass with a blue-coloured granite dildo. (AfD's color is blue.)
