Thanks for the episode. Holding keys is scary and most people want greater simplicity, as you both point out. However, I could be convinced if I was assured this was the best way to access my Bitcoin from other countries in the world, should the US coordinate with allies to shut down self hosted wallets and access to their associated apps and websites suddenly. That’s my tinfoil hat fear.
What is the best globally accessible wallet? Or do I just need my seed phrase to create a whole new wallet once I’m in, say, Switzerland or El Salvador?
Mark- you probably would want to use nunchuck as the co-ordinator (via multiple friends/family anywhere) and each of them has a SeedQR of your 3 of 5 multi-sig. All the major wallets support metal/plastic SeedQRs and so your setup will even be multi vendor. Hence a signing device from lots of countries works.
(Coldcard only supports seedQR only one-way unfortunately).
I use 3of5 to give yourself more countries, but could 2 of 3. 👍
Thank you. I’ll look into nun chuck.
haha that's not ton foil hatty. that's a very likely outcome within the next 12 months! do not comply!
