It took me a minute (the whole day) but thanks to @NotBiebs I think I've finally completed everything I need to be part of the Nostr community officially. Zaps ⚡️ should be accessible now. Anyone want to do me a favor and give it a test? If all is well, I would be happy to assist anyone who needs help. #introductions #bitcoin
Cant zap you...
Hmmm I made some adjustments. I used your profile to cross check some things. Mind checking again for me?
Now its a different error: no_route
Super odd, when I click the zap it shows the @Alby extension and allows me to send sats if I had any. Will continue to troubleshoot. Thanks for checking.
I connected alby to amethyst with the qr code... What client are you using?
I'm using Primal, I connected my pub key to alby and changed my Primal updated my lightning address to reflect alby's. Not sure what else to do.
You don’t need to use the same lightning wallet to send and receive zaps. @Alby is self-custodial meaning you have to open and manage your own lightning channels. They should have instructions on how to do that when you sign up. If you’re not ready for that yet, you can sign up for a custodial wallet that provides lightning addresses and set that lightning address on your profile. There are different options depending on where you’re located. I use Strike which is great, but there’s also no kyc options like @Coinos. You can only zap others using Alby when using the Primal web app, but at least you’ll be able to receive zaps to your custodial wallet. If you want to go the easiest route, use the Primal mobile app which has a built in wallet.
Hey friend Welcome to the future
Did you set up lightning channels on Alby? https://i.nostr.build/Vk0TUShkm0l7UrS3.jpg
I did. Think I’m going to try a different client tomorrow to see if it has better connectivity options.
Lightning network is tricky. When you open a channel you technically have no receive capacity can only send. So you would have to swap out to have receive capacity. Its a bit technical for new people. nostr:nprofile1qqs9xtvrphl7p8qnua0gk9zusft33lqjkqqr7cwkr6g8wusu0lle8jcpp3mhxue69uhkyunz9e5k7qg6waehxw309a3kzcmgv5ejuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtmkxyq32amnwvaz7tm9v3jkutnwdaehgu3wd3skueq4089x0 client has a wallet built it kind of makes it easy if you want to try that out to start. Can always change it later.
So is it best not to use alby? And how does one swap if the wallet is 0?
I think on alby you have to set up lightning channels which is a little more complex. If you dont know how to do that I would recommend getting a lightning address through nostr:nprofile1qqs9xtvrphl7p8qnua0gk9zusft33lqjkqqr7cwkr6g8wusu0lle8jcpp3mhxue69uhkyunz9e5k7qg6waehxw309a3kzcmgv5ejuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtmkxyq32amnwvaz7tm9v3jkutnwdaehgu3wd3skueq4089x0 or wallet of satoshis as they manage this for you before leveling up to running your own node or using a self sovereign option like Zeus wallet. https://medium.com/@michael.leigh.stewart/setting-up-a-lightning-network-node-with-alby-hub-alby-cloud-4895e97624f8
Just connected via @damus if you have the time could you let me know if this made a difference?
