@w_s_bitcoin has a really interesting formula for this [yearly expenses]/4year moving cost average btcprice * 20 = number of coins needed to retire.  I think I got that right. 

 Basically holding over 2 cycles. How beautiful that in 8 years (more or less) anyone can go ahead and retire
