At this time, nosWhere is a NIP-50 search relay. Clients can use the nosWhere relay to search for user profiles and notes. Why do we need this? Relays go down and have unstable performance. The solution for his is to create indexes of all Nostr events across Nostr by querying all relays and storing the information in a database. We use this data for search. But first, Nostr has a lot of spam, so we filter that out. We have multiple indexes. Such as one for users with a good credibility rank and one with all events. This helps us have good data to search through.

Is NIP-50 on the short-term roadmap for Damus?
Everything’s on the roadmap but short term is very focused on 1) Nostrdb to fix the profile (notifications) crash stuff and 2) crashes/freezing on iOS 17 (another bug/🍎 thing). 💜
