I think education becomes interesting again at the PhD level because most of the people who are just studying to get a job are already out of the education system, leaving you with some very fascinating individuals.

In the next one and a half years, I will complete my master's, and after that, I plan to pursue a PhD in computer science.
Oh, there's many things to learn about how the academia system works. Might change your perspective on things. All the best!
👍I like lifelong learning. Many people have not learned anything new for a long time after leaving school.
Once I’m done with the torture that has been working on a PhD, I’ll take my learning out of academia 😅
Academia is a lovely experience filled with people passionate about knowledge, even if quite elitistic and emotionally underdeveloped because of spending most of their years in relation with books. But there is much to learn and to expand in the process. It is the proving my worth/my knowledge in rapport with standard evaluation methods part that I could not addapt to. I have studies in two masters but did not get the dissertation diploma for neither of them. One was in Theories and Methods of Research in Communication and the other was in Art history and the Philosophy of Culture. With or without the recognition, my thinking was shaped by them and in the end I think this is all that matters.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am pursuing my master's remotely, aiming to obtain a degree that will pave the way for potential Ph.D. studies, possibly in DSA or LLMs.

The prospect of working on frontiers, advancing technology, and solving complex problems is truly captivating.

Ultimately, I believe that diplomas and degrees are not the measure of success; the idea academia to me feels like a meaningful way to contribution towards society & future in some meaningful way.
Education is indeed how we pass forward our shared intelligence to future generations. Times are changing and we are becoming a the digital culture, which brings tons of potential and also enormous dangers. So your chosen field is very much needed. Good luck with that🤞🏻🫶🏻
Heh, I'm starting a master's this year as well.
Nice, are you attending university as a regular student on campus or pursuing remotely?
Remote, while working full time. I've been doing it for a few years now at undergrad level but I'm switching to a different university to do my masters, so I'm hoping they're as well set up for remote students as my current one.
What do you mean people who are studying to get a job are out of the education system? Most of the people with a phd i know were studying just to get a job but with higher wage and less competition. Not because they care...
