According to local sources, seven engineers of the institution would have been installing bitcoin farms across the country as the prosecutor’s office is carrying out this investigation with ANDE’s cooperation. According to local reports, seven engineers employed by the National Power Administration (ANDE) in Paraguay would be involved in organizing illegal connections to power bitcoin operations in Paraguay.

 The Paraguayan government has been taking action against illegal bitcoin mining activities. Since the beginning of this year, authorities have seized over 5,000 ASIC miners and conducted multiple raids on illegal mining farms  . The government is also looking to modify the penal code to impose harsh penalties, including up to 10 years in prison, for power theft related to illegal mining operations
