Small gardens are highly-inefficient, but making them dual use (decorative and edible) counters that.
This is what I’ve been trying to do. 50/50 success. I started with poor soil and just weeds. On year three, finally the aromatics are finding their roots. Now to mix in some veggies and medicinal plants.

I'm in Germany, so it's hard to compare. Central Texas was peaches, aloe, and pecans. What about an avocado 🥑 tree?
