End of an era. #TrueNAS is switching from #FreeBSD to #Linux https://www.theregister.com/2024/03/18/truenas_abandons_freebsd/
Sad news to hear about TrueNAS moving to Linux…it benefits all FreeBSD users to have a greater diversity of downstream projects. And my understanding is that TrueNAS has been pretty popular in the home lab/self-hosting space. At least we still have OPNSense!
Indeed. I was a FreeBSD user back around the time FreeNAS got started and they demo'd it at SCaLE.
hmmm, need to think about path forward. I'm not keen on debian host, nor having kube on my low power nas. Perhaps some coreos based with podman and cockpit. Well, it's been good ride, thanks for freenas and later ixsystems.
k3s is great if you want a standalone or low resources k8s.
I'll do microshift if I'll need kube api.
