I think out of all Saturday morning cartoons I watched as a kid, Batman Beyond had the coolest intro song/video. It’s the only non-anime cartoon opener that I still remember today. Whenever the intro would play after whatever lame show it came after in the lineup, I’d be like “oh heck yeah!” https://youtu.be/WS1s3T-rnFU
this show is surprisingly good!
It was, yeah. The whole DC animated universe of that era under Bruce Timm was amazing.
I'd argue that 90's marvel was equal in quality. The characters hadn't yet gone through multiple interations within the TV medium and so they were just truer to the spirits of the characters. Also the OG stories taken from the comics are just generally better than shit that was produced later by TV writers. And no, it's not just the nostalgia talking.
But was it cooler than Batman TAS? I don't think so...
It was part of the same universe. The same executive producer Bruce Timm, and continuity. Batman, Superman, Beyond, and Justice League are like one big unit with a beginning and end. I like it all. And this was about the quality of the song intro.
I will beat you with this Lyn: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_ycG-xe1uSM
You should also check out Gargoyles, which still to this day has a cult following. https://youtu.be/2xGeSso_45Y
Hard pass! For my money, Batman, The Animated Series was far better. The character development, from Bruce Wayne, to the villains he faced as the Batman, to the challenges he faced as the Batman, himself, was excellent. The animation was smooth. The plots were full. https://youtu.be/rrmUk2YUm14
I think this show was too deep for me as a kid. I bounced right off it, but I ate up Batman Beyond.
I really liked the conclusion of this series, which I think actually aired as an episode of Justice League.
That episode was an absolute banger, and yeah it was the conclusion of Justice League Unlimited but also served as the conclusion for Batman Beyond which never otherwise got a proper conclusion. And thus by extension it closed out that entire Bruce Timm DC animated universe that ran from 1992 with Batman to 2006 with Justice League Unlimited. I should write a note about that episode actually. The Batman/Ace seen was one of the biggest gut punches in kids animation history.
Batman beyond was the shit growing up
Personally I still watch it once in a while. I know that Batman: the Animated series receives the love, but this remains my favorite Batman series.
Que nostalgia por Dios
Hahaha, indeed very good 😎🤘 The world he was fighting against / the entire plot were very meaningful too (aligned with Bitcoin ethos, so to say). It’s a pity that over time, the mainstream ruined it, just like any other superhero from our childhood. By the way, when it comes to anime, you might also like artwork by nostr:nprofile1qqs9tuz9jpn57djg7nxunhyvuvk69g5zqaxdpvpqt9hwqv7395u9rpgpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz8nhwden5te0dehhxarj94c82c3wwajkcmr0wfjx2u3wdejhgtcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0w2um7e (link: https://www.nogood.studio/). We truly hope that one day, they’ll turn into short videos. Older kids, teens, and adults alike would love it 💥📺
Your post was too popular. YouTube says "Sign in to confirm you're not a bot". Sorry YouTube.
For me the nostalgia zone is the X-Men '97 intro theme - Unironically hype AF even as an adult! 🔥😤 https://youtu.be/7L7fNV296h0
Your mention of “non-anime” leads me to believe you are well versed in anime… Are you a fellow weeb??
Kind of, yeah. Like I mean if we’re talking legendary intro songs, I’d have to put Cowboy Bebop up there.
Attack on Titan has never missed with their openers. Everyone trashed Season 3’s “Red Swan” but that song makes me cry. In a good way.
Trigun (original) for me: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4OxFSy8G5wk
