The clarity of mind is usually due to intestinal endotoxin die-off but don't be fooled by the fasted "energy" as it comes from cortisol and adrenaline breaking down muscle and fat tissue for glucose – both these processes are potent stressors upon cellular health and metabolism and will eat away at your thymys and thyroid glands over the long run, further hampering metabolic ability. The intense fatty acid oxidation that takes place during a fasted state causes cell damage as well, as it steals oxygen from cells forcing them into anaerobic metabolism (which produces plenty of waste products, among which lactic acid is especially damaging). At most, fasting should be a temporary measure done for a specific reason.
