i like the idea of "let's try emphasising private security and emergency services" over negative stuff like "defund the X"

it's what people have to do when the tax funded services fall into disarray, or are underfunded, or are corrupted by politics

tends to also result in people broadly refusing to care about restrictions on civillian access to weapons and other important technologies needed for private security, South Africa this is happening in real time over the last few years 

 Are you kind of crazy? How in a world could it be any more efficient, when every single houshold needs to pay concurring mafia organisations which invent their laws and enforce them with weapons over a tax funded police.

Tax money is peoples money. So the police needs to legitimize their actions to a law court, which builds on laws that were written by elected members of parlament.

So when police does not have enough equippment or education, a great answer to corrupt police would rather be paying them a better salary, so they do not depend on criminal organisations to finance them. And more investment in good education as most countries in the EU do it. But the US seems not to understand, that they have by far the poorest education of the police within all of the western democracies.

So let this sink in and think again please.
