 Slave labor. Seriously, tipping has its roots in slavery. It's a crime to pay waiters $2.00 an hour, then requiring them to share their tips via tip-pooling and expecting the customers to make up the difference. Fucking criminal. 

 …and then you get a waiter who winds up being a smarmy, obsequious, manipulative fuck.
Contrast that with the European system, where waiters are paid a liveable wage, get 5 weeks vacation and healthcare. They don’t depend upon, nor expect tips. You get a real person and you have time to sit after your meal and digest…

 I feel like prices will become reasonable again but until then, Trader Joe’s and Publix win. 

 Unless we have a recession/depression, overall prices aren’t coming down.. Of course there could be a real estate drop, or fluxes in certain areas, but generally, we gotta get used to it..

 I went to a SELF SERVE froyo place where the workers literally just have you set your cup on a scale and then have you swipe your card and they asked for a tip. 

 i’ve got a kg of ground beef in the fridge. burgers for lunch it is. $15AUD p/kg for the beef. Probably make 8 burgers 

 I usually do that, but was lazy today.. 

 sometimes a change of scenery is super nice too! 

 I needed to get out, and was craving a shake.. 

 I owned 1/2 a bar/restaurant from 2015-19. Servers might get upset - a bit - if they weren’t tipped, but rarely did I ever see any of them actually ASK for a tip.  That’s just bad form. 

 Companies need to pay a livable wage to avoid this nonsense. People shouldn’t have to beg or ask for tips.  

 I'm not gonna tell you that you were scammed.
