Practiced my timber framing joinery skills on a much needed mudroom shelf for the farm boots. It's super fun and very rewarding to see the end result knowing how much work went into this project, despite the many cosmetic flaws and imperfections. I cut the cedar trees ~2 years ago, milled them here on the farm, stacked them to dry last summer, designed the shelf and joinery, and did most of the work with hands tools. https://image.nostr.build/4f216a95c506d49db50d69b46994b49241080faa6fff817348ba2b1f5580575e.jpg https://image.nostr.build/3dd683804fbeb3bb4f02c0710c84a4709c92a262d951edf8221364fa13136b04.jpg https://image.nostr.build/3dd683804fbeb3bb4f02c0710c84a4709c92a262d951edf8221364fa13136b04.jpg https://image.nostr.build/91bd2630a402baf6c4fcd2538e677d3b4524a4670233ba39180829e7cd3b4b91.jpg https://image.nostr.build/611b72863e086b45c3013466c3208a18a8c7267ee2478a15a4ff83a0da19980d.jpg
hey I got one of those saws you have a little woodmizer or...?
I wish. We hired in a portable sawyer with a TimberKing.
Sneak peak at what should be a crazy awesome joint in the next project. Hogging mortises is PoW! https://image.nostr.build/8faec2e6d64dba61a1a46f1b62c688d7bb9f02072c12e2d20e0a12955a554af4.jpg nostr:nevent1qqs04qng80zadsy8nh2u6cn6f8trxqujtg2vvqnt4f9wgtm4heeaw6qpg3mhxw309a4x2ar5w94xz6n9v9hx2mmjd35k2mfhvfuxvcmnd3ax7ct8ddu8wa3nvf3kydned3ehgmm4wcexsctw0gexxun8w9jzummwd9hkutczyr8rcvzafa4auyrqhsce8c033umpnkaanycg9kjc8r7hgjg7580xkqcyqqqqqqg3229qj
“despite the many cosmetic flaws and imperfections.” Bro, if you own a saw that looks like that you are already a better woodworker than most people. If I can’t eyeball a cut and use my battery powered circular saw or sawsall to make the cut, then the project is too detailed and/or intricate for me. That is a lovely shelf and you should be proud. 👍
