Barry Lyndon is underrated
Barry Lyndon sucks. 🥴 Prolonged story raft spans years and doesn’t seem to have a particular point to it.
Seeing him go up the ranks in the army and then in nobility was really interesting
Is it a true story?
Not a true story. According to Perplexity: "Barry Lyndon" is not a true story, but it is inspired by historical events and figures. The film, directed by Stanley Kubrick, is based on the 1844 novel "The Luck of Barry Lyndon" by William Makepeace Thackeray. The novel itself is a picaresque tale that follows the rise and fall of an Irish adventurer named Redmond Barry, who later assumes the name Barry Lyndon[2][5]. Thackeray's novel was inspired by the real-life story of Andrew Robinson Stoney, an Anglo-Irish adventurer known for his gambling, dueling, and social climbing, whose attempts to ascend the social hierarchy ended in failure[1][6]. However, the character of Barry Lyndon and the specific events of his life are fictional.
💯 Kubrick was THE master
Top 3 directors for me 🤝
Nice, you’re a 🐸 of fine taste. What’s your top 3?
Thank you ser 🐸 -Stanley Kubrick -Lars Von Trier -Quentin Tarantino (Not in any particular order) What’s your top 3 fren?
1) Kubrick 2) Scorsese 3) PT Anderson Tarantino used to be on my list but he fell off a bit. Really enjoyed the Hateful 8 and Inglorious Basterds but too many misses in there. And Fincher used to be too but kinda went to shit. Cohen Brothers get an honorable mention for me. I haven’t seen anything by Von Trier, what do you recommend? I mostly lost interest in movies maybe 5 years ago.
Cohen is definitely up there too. I saw a few from PT Anderson, I’ll have to watch some more. For Lars: -Melancholia -Breaking the waves -The house that Jack built
TY I will check them out. My brother is a movie freak and has a nice projector setup I bet he will have a Blu-ray of at least one of those movies 😂 PT movies I find exceptional are: There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, Punch Drunk Love, and The Master. Inherent Vice is good and Magnolia is too but it’s a hard movie to watch.
Currently torrenting all his catalog 🏴☠️😂 I’ll keep that in mind for Magnolia
Moon landing was based!

Space Odyssey had better sound and colors, but can we put a price on the network effect on that giant leap for mankind? https://youtube.com/watch?v=cwZb2mqId0A
