“Social Onboarding” is Coming to Nostr.

Because “friends inviting friends” is Nostr’s super power AND it’s the easiest way keep bots and bad actors at bay (as Nostr grows), I’m developing a new kind of Nostr client (right now) to support “social onboarding”.

“Meet Me On Nostr” will allow you to share nostr with friends. By scanning your custom “follow me” QR code, your friends will be able to instantly create a new account, follow you, open a DM chat with you, and connect with your recommend relays, clients, groups, and other accounts on Nostr. Each QR scan also logs the new account as “invited” by you and will qualify you to win “Top Nostr Advocate” each month (awarded by new account retention.)

Coming soon …
 Good idea.
 Things in coming 🔥👀
“Meet Me On Nostr” looks like a fantastic addition to the platform! Harnessing the power of social connections for integration not only improves user experience but also strengthens the community aspect of #Nostr.

The QR code feature makes it incredibly convenient for users to invite their friends and facilitates instant connection and interaction on the platform. Additionally, incentivizing users with rewards for inviting new accounts is a great way to encourage engagement and growth, I just worry that this particular feature wouldn't encourage fake accounts to join.

I'm excited to see how this new feature unfolds!
Thanks for the enthusiasm. How wd you suggest “fake accounts” are avoided?
As we are talking about a decentralized environment with a focus on privacy, freedom of expression and collaboration, it would not be appropriate to carry out identity checks, as in this case we would become the “new” Twitter/Facebook/TikTok/Instagram.

With this in mind, in my humble opinion, some possible solutions to mitigate the creation of fake profiles would be:

✅ Behavior Analysis:

- Implement behavior analysis algorithms that examine user activity patterns such as posting frequency, interactions, and networking behavior.

- These algorithms can identify suspicious patterns such as unusual activity, automated behavior, or attempts to manipulate the network.

✅ Community Feedback:

- Empower users to report suspicious accounts or fraudulent behavior through a simple and effective reporting system.

- Establish a transparent process to review and respond to these reports, ensuring the community has a voice in identifying and mitigating fake accounts.

➡️ In summary:

- Integration of an AI-based behavior analysis system, which continuously and automatically monitors user activity, identifying suspicious patterns that could indicate fake accounts.

- Additionally, establish a reporting function on the platform, allowing users to report suspicious activity, including the creation of fake accounts.

- Reports would be reviewed by a decentralized moderation team made up of trusted community members who would review the evidence and take appropriate action, such as deleting fake accounts or taking corrective action.

I believe that with these combined approaches of behavior analysis and community feedback, it could allow us to effectively identify and mitigate the creation of fake accounts while maintaining the privacy and freedom of expression of users on #Nostr.

I hope I helped at least with these ideas. 😉
Esto es probablemente lo más emocionante que he visto hoy. Cuando esté disponible dejaré mi QR en mis viejas RRSS y eso será lo último que verán de mi por allá. 🫡 #hispano

I love the idea, can't wait to try it 🤙🏻🙌🏻
 👍
 👍🏼
Do we have the option of having you NOT log everyone we invite to map out our real world social graph, and instead just use the qr code?
YES! So glad you asked. While new accounts created will be “logged” with creation date, every invite created will have “options” available at QR generation. ONE of these will be to “not log” the invitor’s pubkey along with the invited.

Nostr is privacy first. Everything else comes second.

Feedback and questions welcome.
 Great
 Looking forward to this.
