The latest estimate on #Arcade numbers in Japan are not encouraging for those having hope things will get better. Financial analyst firm Teikoku Databank estimates that arcades in Japan has declined by nearly 8,000 over the past decade, so NO direct pandemic blaming here (but didn't help matters of course). This decline has been accelerated by recent increases in operating costs & while is true that Crane games have become more popular, but they are also less profitable. A testament on how bad the business got that SEGA, after 56 years as a big name, announced on early 2022 that it was closing his remaining Arcade Rooms and exiting the market. #Gaming #GameNews #youtubegaming 🕹 🎮 https://void.cat/d/LxpPqcLCwiusW2UEX1JXdA.webp
