I like it.  In my state it is normal to have one establishment tyrant and a bunch of people trying to stop the tyrant.  The 2-10 anti-establishment people divide the votes and the establishment tyrants win even though 60-80% of the voters don't want 

 Yup. That's a very practical reason it can work really well for a larger portion of voters.
